SUPER6 - modern and graphic superhero party
I am so excited to share Lauren’s SUPER 6 superhero party! This party was SUPER FUN to plan! For real! There isn’t a ton of variety out there for superhero parties (if you’re not taking the marvel route, or picking an actual superhero character to base the party off of!) So the first thing I did was decide the colour scheme (lavender, neon green, and blush pink) and then I used a lightning bolt as the main graphic element, and kept the rest simple! I wanted it to still have a superhero-comic vibe, but with a fresh colour scheme and fun details!
For the actual party - we hosted it at Lauren’s gymnastics gym! They have a big garage door that opens up so we were able to set up outside which was great, being July it gets a little hot and sweaty in the gym, and it was nice to keep the food and mess outdoors! The kids got to run around the gym and play, and then come out for party things like cake, food + presents!
I got Lauren a new gym suit (this one from GymGear) as a birthday present for her to wear at the party- she needed to look like a super gymnast too! But my favourite thing was this light purple denim jumpsuit that I think looked like the perfect superhero uniform! It has little side cutouts so you could see her cool leo - just the perfect party outfit!
For tableware - as soon as I saw these new paint-splatter plates + napkins from A Little Confetti - I knew they would be perfect! I also found a metal cake stand and plate with a similar speckled-paint pattern - so good! Then I added in the “POW!” superhero plates for a fun accent.
The pegboard backdrop seemed like a ‘super easy quick idea’ in my head but it totally took me forever to get the letters where/how I wanted them! I just used a regular sheet of 4’x8’ pegboard - my husband cut it down to 7’ and added a wood frame around the back edges to make it a little sturdier. Then I painted it white/pink, used wooden dowels for pegs and neon green yarn to create the SUPER HERO letters. It turned out so good and BONUS points for using a pegboard so that I could hang/attach things using the holes! POW! [this backdrop is now sitting in my garage, if anyone wants it come and GET IT]
I made a few things (ok a LOT of things) on my Cricut Maker 3 for the party. I made superhero masks out of felt for each party guest, as well as a snack box with their names on them! It was nice to pack the boxes with snacks so that the kids to come-and-go, and I could close up their boxes and not get anyone’s snacks mixed up! They could also take home what they didn’t eat, and it was nice not having a big “food” table set up too!
I also made superhero capes for Lauren and Ethan - Lauren’s had a “SUPER 6” design on the back, and Ethan’s had a big “E” on the back! I used iron-on vinyl for the designs and it was so easy!
I also cut out lightning bolt out of neon and glitter cardstock to make cupcake toppers, and added vinyl decals to the wooden cutlery! (did I get carried away with the Cricut crafts? yes i did!)
You can access all of my projects in Cricut’s design space if you want to make them yourself too!
You can get your own SUPER HERO invitation here - just fill out the form with your party details and you’ll get a digital file you can send our or print yourself!
Another fun detail were these cotton candy bombs from Sugar Cube! They are like concentrated cotton candy - and when you drop them in your drink (we just used sparking water) they reveal a colour!!! Sugar Cube made a custom pack for our party, and the label described what super power you get with each colour!! Purple was super strength, pink was ability to fly, and yellow was invisibility! The kids all loved it and had fun with their new superpowers!
TREAT BAGS! You KNOW this is one of my favourite parts of planning a party - putting together a custom treat bag! This time I used clear zipper pouches (this pack of 12 was perfect!) for a modern vibe, and added neon green vinyl names for each of the guests. Inside I included a notebook and colouring sheets from Great Pretenders, glitter markers, skipping rope, custom SUPER STICKERS pack, homemade slime jars, HERO hair clips, and glow in the dark stars!
You can download the HERO hair clips favour cards here, and printable slime labels here to print your own!
Ethan took his role as “super brother” super seriously - I didn’t even think he’d want to wear his cape and mask but he had it on almost the whole party! He was a little upset that his “super powers” weren’t working though.
