DIY plywood PLAY wall sign
When we were setting up our playroom in the basement, we knew we needed some fun art to add some interest to the shiplap wall that was behind all of the toy storage. I also knew I wanted to make something myself to keep the costs low as well. So we settled on this cute P L A Y sign!
We just used 1/2 plywood because I originally thought I’d leave them unfinished. After seeing everything come together though - we decided to add a fun pop of colour and painted them peach! (the colour is Beauti-Tone Cream Sickle - it’s super pastel peachy-pinky-orange and I love it! I just bought a small paint sample size and it was more than enough for 2 coats on all of my letters!) I only painted the fronts, leaving the raw plywood edge visible which I really liked too!
Each letter is 16” tall, and I just free-handed the “font” for the letters by making thickness of the letters 4”. My husband cut them out and sanded them for me so I can’t take any credit for that part!
We actually hung them up with super strong command strips! I didn’t want to add hooks or any fasteners to the back because I wanted them to lay flat and tight to the wall, and nailing them on felt a little too permanent/damaging and I really didn’t want to fill/paint over the nail holes after!
