Holiday Nutcracker Ballet Party

I have been wanting to plan a nutcracker party for a few years now - as I knew Lauren would LOVE dressing up as a little sugar plum fairy - and even better that Ethan could join in the fun as a little mouse king too! I got all of the decorations from A Little Confetti - they have everything you need to plan any party you can think of! I first went to the Nutcracker Ballet with my mom and grandmother when I was 9 years old - and I am dreaming of the day I can bring Lauren with me! Until then, I thought we would celebrate with a little nutcracker holiday magic of our own - at home!

We ate cupcakes, candy, and cookies, played with the sweetest play dough, made sparkly bracelets, and coloured a custom nutcracker illustration. I surprised Lauren with a pink tulle ballet dress, fairy wings (that I re-vamped from a dollar store set!), and a rose gold crown headband that I actually made from a tree ornament! I also made Ethan’s mouse ears headband and set out a little fancy outfit for him as well (that obviously included a little bowtie!) It was fun to dress up since we just had the party at home - made it feel extra special and fancy!

However, since Covid restrictions in our province didn’t allow for any guests at our party - we decided to pack up little party bags with everything her little friends would need to have their own nutcracker party at home! We delivered them the next day, and it was fun to spread some holiday party cheer!

I set each place setting with layered plates, a big candy cane, a rose gold sugar plum fairy tree ornament, and a snowflake wand. I made these snowflake wands by stacking a gold glitter snowflake tree ornament on top of a clear resin snowflake ornament, then I attached them to a wooden dowel and tied with velvet ribbons + yarn.

I also put together little party gift baskets that included little goodies all hand made from small Canadian shops! In each basket there was: a cupcake soap, a donut bath bomb, gold star hair clips, an organza scrunchie, a punch needle snowflake tree ornament, handmade play dough + wooden rolling pin, mini bubble bath, and a velvet hair bow. I had so much fun collecting these items and I thought they would be great stocking stuffer ideas for other little sugar plum fairies!
