easy CRICUT projects for birthday parties!
I love making things for my kid’s birthday parties and little festive celebrations. One of my favourite ways to create decor and add cute details to the party is with my Cricut machine! I have the Cricut Maker 3 - and it can do it all - it has totally opened up my imagination for things I can make! So without further adieu, here is a roundup of things I have made for parties with my trusty Cricut!
custom SNACK BOXES
For this superhero party - I wanted to prep the kid’s snack boxes ahead of time because I was hosting the party at my daughter’s gymnastics gym. I didn’t want a bunch of food out that the girls would be grabbing from (and there were a few allergies to consider) so making each guest their own snack box was a great way to manage all of that! I used my Cricut to add the cute city-scape vinyl decals, (you can download the file here to create your own!) and most importantly — each guest’s name to the box. That way they could come and go from doing gymnastics to eating snacks and wouldn’t lose track of which box was theirs! I would pretty much get a Cricut machine just for this purpose - putting guest’s names on cups, water bottles, snacks, etc ahead of time keeps everything organized and avoid kids accidentally sharing drinks/snacks!
For Ethan’s Mario party - I found these square yellow containers and instantly knew I could transform them into “mystery box” snack kits for the kids! Using my Cricut, I cut out the white vinyl for the design on the lid, and then also added the guest’s names for the sides! We still use our containers - this could be a fun project for your kid’s lunches too!
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL BANNER
This is probably the easiest way to use your cricut to create a quick banner for any occasion! Just gather a bunch of cardstock, cut out your letters and background squares, and assemble - then string them all together with yarn or rope. This “first day of school” one turned out so cute for our little brunch party.
This “Grade One” banner is another fun way to celebrate with your little one on the first day of school! Just cardstock, a Cricut and fishing line!
CUSTOM CAKE TOPPERS
For this “HIGH FIVE” party I made a custom cake topper - I used a combo of vinyl and cardstock. After creating my design, I let my Cricut cut everything out, and then I assembled all of the layers. I used these clear acrylic rods to give it a floating look on the cake!
For this CHOO CHOO train party, I used my Cricut to cut out felt tree shapes and a number 2 to create custom cake toppers. I love that felt can be glued together and they edges don’t fray, so you can use it in so many different ways!
PLUSH PUP PALS
For this project, I used my Cricut pen (specifically the infusible ink one) to draw the outlines of the pups on beige cotton fabric. Then I ironed the design to set the ink, and cut around the design. After that, I cut out another piece of fabric for the back and sewed them together. Lastly, stuffed them and added a cute tag! I bought fabric markers for the kids to use to colour in their pups however they wanted. These were a hit! You can find more inspo from this Paw Patrol party here!
CUPCAKE TOPPERS
For this little daisy party - I used my cricut to cut out SO MANY DAISIES! This is the easiest way to make custom cupcake toppers, as well as cake toppers. Just cut out front/back of your design, and glue together with a toothpick or wooden dowel in the centre. The possibilities are endless since you can cut out any shape, with any paper to complement your specific party decor!
I used fun glitter cardstock for these superhero lightning bolts! You can download the file here to make your own!
SIGNAGE AND VINYL DECALS
This is probably the most obvious use of a Cricut - cutting out vinyl to create signage and decals! The best party is that you can add the vinyl to a variety of substrates. I’ve added it to wood (like the big letter “E”, felt, a pop-up tent), and I’ve used a combo of felt, fabric and iron-on vinyl to make textile signage as well!
So that’s it for now! Hopefully this gave you a few ideas on how you can use a all things Cricut to elevate your parties!
